5 Tips for protecting you and your new home
Disasters always come unannounced and you get no time to get alert and prevent the damage, but being a little smart can help you in a great way. When you buy or build a new home, make sure to incorporate essential measures in your home safety guide, and stay prepared for maximum damage control even at the worst conditions. When you own a private home, it is your responsibility to keep everything in place for protecting it.
Let’s have a look on what our new home guide should include –
    1. Insurance
You need the right insurance policy to cover your dream home from any kind of possible harm. Being a private home the insurance policy needs to include personal insurance protection along with liability insurance meant for home accidents. Home insurance policies are time-bound and come with an expiry date. The basic home insurance policies are of the following types, major home owners insurance – it includes property and home losses (because of smoke, wind, volcanic eruption, vandalism, explosion, lightening, explosion, or theft); basic home owner’s insurance covering damages (due to water, falling objects, snow, electricity); renters insurance coverage; personal property coverage and the likes. It is always advised that you should own the property legally for future transactions or property claims regarding ownership.

    1. Fire Safety
No matter how careful you are, you can’t stop a fire accident. The best way to protect you and your home from fire hazards is, to install fire and smoke alarms that go off when a slight whip of smoke is detected by the smoke detector. It would cost you so less than doing the damage control after the accident. Prevention is definitely better than cure and your new home guide needs fire safety to be a top priority in the checklist.

    Fire Safety
In case you built a new farm house and store firewood for the winters (especially in north India) to fight off the chills or enjoy a bonfire, make sure to store the firewood at least 30 meters from your home. Wood is flammable and keeping it in such huge quantity might trigger an accidental fire and ruin your property as well as cause harm to you and your family as well.
    1. Rain or Snow
Rain and snow are natural occurrences that you can’t avoid come what you may do. So, the only way you can deal with them is by strengthening your house. Make sure that while construction is going on the material is water resistant to withstand the heavy rainfalls in India. Though, snow is not prevalent across India, the northern most states may benefit from snow resistant homes. Roofs and walls should be made in such a way that minimum snow deposition occurs around the home and reduce any possible damage to the structure and you.

    1. Theft
Theft is though not so common, you never know how thief or burglars might invade your place and damage property and lives. To ward-off trespassers, thieves and burglars the best way is to have electric fencing and keeping a huge guard dog in the entry gate. Obviously nobody would dare to fight with a big dog and raise alarm. Other methods of keeping away thieves are installing security cameras near the entryway, so that you can see whoever is there at the gate; setting alarms if someone tries to forcefully open the or break the gate; install sensors on the windows so that you are alerted in case someone tries to sneak through it.

    Theft
    1. Digital locks
Install digital locks at the entrance to stop unwanted trespassers trying to invade your space. They open with secure codes that only a family member knows. This way you can keep your house, family and the valuables from vandalism.
This sums up your basic home safety guide to protect your home and your family from common disasters or accidents. Your life and home is precious and securing it with such small measures is not going to hurt in the long run.
Summary:  When you get a new home you need to make sure of few things such as safety and protection of your home and family. There are plenty of options including security systems, fencing and guard dogs that come handy.
